JRK Tournament
The James R. Kennedy Memorial Classic
The James R. Kennedy Memorial Classic is now in its 27th year and has continued to grow and bring visibility to the James R. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship Fund. This year, 13 schools will compete over the weekend of August 22-24, 2025.
Jimmy Kennedy was a member of the Pine-Richland Boys soccer program, class of 1999. He was a four-year varsity starter, four-year letter winner and co-captain for the Rams’ 1998 team, during his senior year. Jimmy’s life came to an abrupt and tragic end in a car accident on December 23rd, 1998. He touched the hearts of many through soccer, school and overall being a fantastic friend. In his memory, Jimmy’s number, 7, was retired from Pine-Richland Varsity Soccer during half-time of the then newly named, James R. Kennedy (“JRK”) Memorial Tournament, in September 1999. Though the number 7 jersey will no longer appear during a Pine-Richland soccer game, it will always be in our hearts.
Back in 1999, contributions were made in Jimmy Kennedy’s memory to establish the James R. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship Fund. This was designed to provide a financial scholarship, awarded to graduating senior soccer players each school year.
Each year since inception, a portion of the proceeds from the JRK Memorial Classic event along with donations from the Pine-Richland Boys Soccer Boosters and our generous sponsors, has been contributed to the Scholarship Fund. To date, the JRK Scholarship Fund has awarded over $105,000 in scholarships to 50 graduating senior soccer players.
*The JRK Memorial Scholarship Fund is recognized as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS code.
